Corporate Gifts to Employees are Up!

Corporate Gifts is a big and growing business. According to Advertising Specialty Institute’s 7th annual Corporate Gift Spending Report, spending on corporate gifts is increasing. The report was published at the end of 2015. The upward trend in corporate gifts is attributed to an improving economy following the Great Recession.

ASI results also show that gifts to employees is growing. However, gifts to clients is down slightly. Further, the average amount spent on individual gifts was higher in both categories, but companies spend more on gifts to employees. The need to retain key employees during a robust job market is the reason given for this trend.

Corporate Gifts: Trends to Watch

Other trends identified in the ASI study are as follows:

Gift cards and cash have grown into the leading gifts to employees.
The majority of corporate gifts to employees and clients now feature a company logo.
The primary goal of gifts to customers and prospects is to express appreciation, followed by relationship building.
Fruit baskets, popcorn tins, engraved pens & other personalized items are cited as the best corporate gifts.
Tech & apparel are two categories expected to show strong growth as corporate gifts.

While not specifically covered in the ASI study, baby gifts is also seeing growth from businesses. The reason is simple. Managed by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Brooklyn-Made is a certification program for locally-made goods. The certification is a market-driven, geographically-focused certification assessing and validating products manufactured in Brooklyn, NY.

I am often asked for an opinion on what makes an ultimate baby gift. I have designed many iconic baby gifts over the last 30 years as owner of Silly Phillie®. But I find it impossible to point to any one of those or any others as the “ultimate baby gift”. All baby gifts are special in one way or another. The more money spent on a gift the more impressive the gift becomes as a general rule. I recently created a customized baby gift for a customer who wanted to spend $300. New Gender Reveal Layette Cake from Silly Phillie

Many parents today are choosing to host a Gender Reveal Party to announce and in some cases discover the sex of their baby among family and friends.

There are lots of creative ideas on how to orchestrate a climactic end to a gender reveal party. That’s the moment of truth when baby’s sex is revealed and everyone gets a “sweet surprise”

The Internet is full of suggestions on how to reveal baby’s gender at a party. Some are simple others more elaborate. Doesn’t it amaze you how creative people get when it comes to a newborn baby?

Some of my favorite gender reveal ideas include: 1) a giant box filled with either pink or blue balloons-very dramatic; 2) a sealed envelope with the baby’s gender written on a card by the OB or Ultrasound Technician; and 3) colored cupcakes. This can be done by adding pink or blue food coloring to a white cake mix, then covering it with enough frosting so that no cake shows until biting into it. Yummy!

Nothing is more perfect than a newborn baby.

I am reminded of this every day when I see our beautiful baby gifts being made and sent to new parents, each accompanied by the most heartfelt messages of congratulations from family and friends. It never ceases to amaze me how much joy a single newborn baby brings into the world.

Kids Bathrobe fit for Prince George!

Prince George of the British Royal Family was photographed recently wearing an adorable Kids Bathrobe while greeting President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama on their visit to London. The photograph went viral and the press sized upon the event to write articles about the virtues of the bathrobe worn by Prince George. Unique Baby Gifts Make a Lasting Impression

The other day a woman named Angelique called to order a baby gift. The gift was for an important business associate at a large pharmaceutical company.

Angelique emphasized that she wanted a unique baby gift that would make a big impression. She specified that It had to be a Welcome Wagon™ baby gift and it had to also include a Silly Phillie® bathrobe. More about the bathrobe later.

After several minutes reviewing options together Angelique decided to order a Personalized Deluxe Welcome Wagon Gift for Baby Boy . We agreed to substitute a bathrobe for the normally included bath bag and I offered to personalized the bathrobe at no additional cost.
