Let’s start with a brief explanation of what a diaper cake is. To be sure, a diaper cake is not something to be eaten, say as dessert at a baby shower. In fact, the only connection to food is that diaper cakes are made to look like an actual cake with layers.

Are Diaper Cakes Sanitary?
The short answer to this question is…it depends. Some diaper cakes like those made by Silly Phillie are 100% sanitary. Others not so much. The most important step in keeping a diaper cake sanitary is to wrap all included diapers with a protective cover. Disposal diapers after all cannot be washed before use. You’d be surprised to learn that many other diaper cakes come with unwrapped diapers.
It is less important to wrap layette and accessories because those items can and should be washed before use, However, that doesn’t mean those items should be unprotected. Silly Phillie takes the extra step of wrapping the entire diaper cake with clean, clear cello. This serves to keep the components sanitary, while also enhancing the beauty of the presentation.
